AB - Emperor Yan used to be a king on earth, but the use of the system of fire and people’s worship of totem have made him a god. Emperor Chi became one of the five gods of direction after the germination of the views on the five elements. Emperor Yan and Emperor Chi became one in the system of legends, one god who ruled the south and represented the midsummer. Shennong was the leader of clan under the civilization vision, he and Emperor Chi became one in the system of Dong Zhongshu’s calendar about Three Legitimacy. Emperor Yan, Emperor Chi and Shennong were made one during the inheritance of the literatures in Qin-Han period.
