ABSTRACT

The Dynasty of BeiWei(北魏) has made great changes in the history of East Asia, and it is also very valuable in academic history. Since the dynasty was founded by the Northern immigrants, not by the Han(漢) Chinese regime, it was very dynamic in relations and exchanging with neighboring peoples, and it was not very resistant to the absorption of neighboring countries. The data that introduced in this paper are the epitaph of Go, Doyeol(高道悅) and his wife who are presumed to be from Goguryeo(高句麗) in the BeiWei period. These two pieces of epitaphs were not recorded, as were the other signs of the writing, transcribed, and carved on the stone. Because it was the original purpose of defending the loss of the graveyard and honoring the virtue of the deceased, it would not have made much sense to reveal the name of the person who wrote it. The following are some of the things we have introduced. First of all, we revealed the characteristics of the two areas, including the originator and current collection place through bibliography. Based on the name of the place, official name, and place of origin, the research introduced a clues that could be assumed to have migrated from Goguryeo to China or were at least vigilant at Goguryeo. The following analyzes were conducted in terms of historical value, literary value, and artistic value. As the historical value, the research was reviewed to identify the records of the existing librarian and to fill the gaps. It is about the life review and the family system of the Go, Doyeol family, the frustration of the reform and the killing, the moving of the cemetery, the text correspondence and supplement of the history book. In the literary value, we examined the style and formalization of the epitaph sentence style at that time. In other words, it was looked at the development of sentences, the use of the idioms, and the customs of sentences related to character’s poach. As for artistic values, it was examined aesthetic aspects of sculpture art through the landscape of calligraphic shapes and exploration of meteorology. As a research on the aesthetic value of the calligraphic arts, I introduced the general style of the BeiWei calligraphic arts and take the terms used in the commentary on the BeiWei epitaph of the writers and the methods of the investigation. In addition, these two pieces of epitaphs can provide a variety of primitive data for the study of history of cultural exchange between Korea and China.
