AB - Garam Yi Byeong-gi is widely known as a scholar and poet, but he was also a prominent bibliophile of the early modern era. He can be said to be one of the most prominent bibliophiles, especially among scholars who are not professional booksellers. His collection, donated to Seoul National University and managed as the Garammungo, includes a significant number of transcripts. The creation of them was a powerful method for scholars to acquire literary materials at the time, and today, they serve as an important source of alternative texts. The transcripts in the Garammungo can be identified through cross-references between the Garam Ilgi(Diary of Yi Byeong-gi) and the Seomok(Bibliographic list) and existing transcripts itself. As a result of the actual review, it was confirmed that 118.5 copies of 60 titles exist. Furthermore, an examination of the time periods during which these 60 transcripts were created revealed that 32 of them were created between 1932 and 1934. This period corresponds to the period in which Yi Byeong-gi broadened the scope of his scholarly network. By forging academic relationships with Japanese scholars affiliated with Keijo Imperial University and other institutions, he obtained special access to the Keijo Imperial University library. Furthermore, by participating as a founding member of the Chindan Society, he also developed connections within university-centered academic circles. Notably, in 1933, he founded and spearheaded the Joseon Munheunghoe, which prioritized literature collection. The increased number of transcriptions produced between 1932 and 1934 can be interpreted as a result of this society. This marked a distinction from the earlier period, when he transcribed documents he had acquired by chance, or from the later period, when the role of transcriptions diminished.
