AB - This study analyzed trends in research activity as represented in master's theses and doctoral dissertations in the field of library and information science from 2001 to 2010. This study explores the year of publication, the university of publication, the department/major of publication, and subject by examining recent trends in theses and dissertations in the field of LIS, and comparing the results to previously reported by Sohn, Jung-Pyo, for the period of 1959 to 2002. Conclusions are 1) The finding of this study demonstrate that quantitative progress is being made in library and information science research in 2000s. 2) In comparison to previous study, average number of master's theses and doctoral dissertations per year increased four times. 3) The number of master's theses and doctoral dissertations on the subject area of information services were increased.
