ABSTRACT

Radio drama during the Manchukuo period has a unique place in Chinese broadcasting history. Newspapers, magazines, and radio broadcasting were representations of the mass media during the Manchukuo period. The target audience of radio broadcasting during the Manchukuo included both Chinese and Japanese people who were living in northeastern China. Radio Broadcasting was highly censored during the Manchukuo period. This paper examines radio drama in northeastern China, focusing on its birth, progress, and transformation during the Manchukuo period with a particular focus on literary materials such as magazines and newspapers. By analyzing the verifiability of radio broadcasting entertainment programs during Japanese colonial rule, this research offers important insights into the radio broadcasting of the Manchukuo period.
