ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to understand the background of the Bongo- dong battle by paying attention to the characteristics of the movement space and its activities. The starting point of the author is the problem consciousness that the period called 1919, 20years in East-Manchuria-region was different before and after that, and the problem consciousness that the ethnic movement at that time can not be seen even in a homogeneous and planar manner. The ethnic movement space of East-Manchuria-region can be divided into two. It is divided into two spaces in terms of the independent space of the independent army and the main activity system (civilian vs. military). Bongo-dong, which was the activity space of gunnmudodokbu(軍務都督府), was an “independence army base”. This point is different from the gypsy memories of the East-Manchuria-region as one of the ethnic movements. Bongo-dong had an independent military base that was not in Yŏn’gil-hyŏn and Hwaryong- hyŏn. From this point of view, we can naturally explain why the battle took place in the Bongo-dong among the East-Manchuria-region adjacent to the Dooman river.
