AB - As knowledge represents a critical resource that determines competitiveness of a nation or an organization in the knowledge-information society, the government has been induced to enhance knowledge management of government workers by establishing a knowledge management system (KMS). But we can hardly find researches on the subject of whether KMS has, in effect, improved performances of individuals. Therefore, this paper examines the impact of KMS utilization on individual work performance by analyzing the survey results of workers of KIPO(Korean Intellectual Property Office). KIPO links KMS with 17 research institutes and provides patent information for the public. And we study how well the knowledge of KIPO is shared with and utilized by other ministries and research institutes. Based on the result of this study, we will seek alternatives to enhance the effectiveness of KMS.
