ABSTRACT

This study explores the educational significance and instructional expansion of life history writing as a liberal arts writing course for adult learners in the context of lifelong Korean language education in the digital age. Using an action research approach, the study analyzes the design and implementation of life history writing classes conducted for adult learners at local lifelong education institutions and a university-based Future Life College, focusing on learners’ responses, writing processes, and outcomes. The findings indicate that life history writing functions as a form of self-care writing, enabling adult learners to reflect on their life experiences, reconcile with past events, and reduce anxiety related to writing. In addition, the use of educational technology — such as Padlet, AI-based feedback tools, Book Creator, and online collaborative platforms — effectively supported processoriented writing by facilitating idea generation, expression, revision, and sharing. This study demonstrates that life history writing, integrated with edutech, offers a meaningful pedagogical model that simultaneously promotes self-care and completed writing in lifelong Korean language education for adult learners.
