ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to identify the differences in leisure activities on acculturation types of foreign women married to korean man and the effect of leisure activities on leisure satisfaction. Surveys were conducted from February 14 to March 25, 2011. From a total of 330 questionnaires distributed, 280 questionnaires were used for data analysis. The results can be summarized as follows: Firstly, five factors for the acculturation were extracted which include 'marginalization', 'assimilation', 'separation', 'integration', and 'glocalization'; Secondly, three cluster groups were classified based on five factors by cluster analysis: 'A type of cultural adaptation Korea'; A type of native culture maintenance'; and 'A type of fringe'; Thirdly, there were significant differences among three groups in cultural experiential leisure and sociable leisure, while there was no significant difference among the three groups in families and friends leisure and mass media leisure. Finally, sociable leisure was the most positively influenced factor in terms of the leisure satisfaction, followed by mass media leisure, cultural experiential leisure. The findings indicate that a leisure support network is needed for improved acculturation.
