ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between residents’ perception of personal benefits and their attitude toward tourism resort development(ATD) based on Social Exchange Theory. In detail, the perception variables were divided into a direct impact such as personal benefit(PB) and indirect impacts such as perception of tourists’ respect(TR), positive tourism impacts(PTI), and community satisfaction(CS). To achieve this purpose, the data was collected from 192 residents of Gijang-goon in Busan. Results of this study are as follow. (1)the PB variable played a significant role among ATD, TR, and PTI without CS. (2)Also, there was important relationships among the TR, PTI and CS. However, PTI among TR, CS had only an effect on the ATD. Therefore, this research contributed to theoretical and practical implications, especially taking into account the regional features of Gijang-goon.
