ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of Pygmalion leadership perceived by flight attendants on job engagement and customer orientation and to verify the mediating effect of job engagement. A questionnaire was conducted to 400 flight attendants (excluding team managers) of both K airline and A airline with two years or more of job experience from February 1 to February 28, 2017. A total of 387 questionnaires were collected and used for the empirical analysis. The results showed that from the influential relationship of Pygmalion leadership perceived by flight attendants on job engagement, it was proved that all subordinate factors of Pygmalion leadership had significant and positive (+) influence on confidence of job engagement. Also, the analysis of the mediating effect of job engagement found that only self-confidence enhancement, solicitude, and job delegation had a mediating effect.
