AB - The purpose of this study was to explore the psychosocial meanings of exercise participation among lesbian women using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). In-depth interviews were conducted with six women who selfidentified as lesbians. The analysis revealed that their exercise experiences involved changes in how they experienced their bodies, spaces, relationships, and themselves. Participants came to experience their bodies, previously objectified under external scrutiny, as active subjects of movement and physical sensation, while finding safe relational spaces where they did not need to explain or conceal their identities. By forming connections with peers who shared similar values, they also developed a sense of belonging and community that alleviated existential isolation. These experiences became psychosocial resources that reduced the burden of selfjustificationand helped participants restore their daily lives. This study demonstrates that exercise for lesbian women is not merely a health behavior but a lived experience that enables them to live as themselves in their everyday world.
