AB - This paper aims to understand a trilateral relations among South Korea, China and Japan in terms of a political integration in East Asia and to find a proper direction for establishing a peaceful security system in Northeast Asia. To do this work, this paper will focus on a mode of some achievement and enhancement in both institutional and relational levels, especially in terms of an cooperative exchange and trust-building. In addition, it will examine the level of convergence that shows how some result of the trilateral relation has influenced into a process of democratization in each country. The political integration index of East Asia will not aim to ‘actual political integration’, rather it will function to reveal certain political complexities among the three countries and to find some tasks to build a peaceful security system in East Asia.
