ABSTRACT

Wiman Joseon was a dynasty that lasted from 194 B.C. to 108 B.C. It was founded by a person named Wiman who drove out King Jun of Gojoseon during the Jin-Han replacement period. It lasted 87 years until Wiman’s grandchild, King Ugeo, was destroyed by the Han Dynasty, but there are too many unknown aspects with regard to its geographic location and national character. However, the history of Nam Viet, which grew and collapsed in the south of China and northern Vietnam, has many similarities with Wiman Joseon. Therefore, referring to Nam Viet can be an effective means by which to understand Wiman Joseon. Looking at the tombs of Nam Viet and seven counties distributed in Guangdong and Guangxi provinces in China, and northern Vietnam, it was found that there were many similarities with related data pertaining to Wiman Joseon and Nakrang-gun. In particular, it is expected that a new breakthrough in the study of Wiman Joseon will be achieved through comparisons of time, space, and ethnicity.
