本文探讨了语气词“啊”在不同句类中的交际功能。在陈述句中，“啊”的作用在于引导听话者准确而高效地把握、理解说话者所要传递的重要信息。在问句中，“啊”的基本作用是“申明”，在语调是非问中提醒证实某一事实，在特指问中提醒注意疑问点，有“快告诉我”“我很想知道”的意味在里面。在肯定性祈使句中，“啊”的作用是提醒做某事，与祈使语气相结合，就有了“敦促”的意味；在否定性祈使句里是提醒不要做某事，与祈使语气相结合就有了“劝止”的意味。在感叹句中，“啊”的作用就是表达情感。“表达情感”是语气词“啊”的核心意义，其他功能都是“表情”这一核心意义的引申。
