AB - 本文試圖探討將來時標記“當”的語法化過程。我們對上古中古時期的六種文獻里出現的 “當”字進行窮盡性分析，并探討它的演變時期、條件、機制等問題。研究結論為如下：一、[義務]義助動詞“當”是從表“相應、對應”的動詞演變而來的。 二、上古時期，有些“N1+V當+N2”結構中的“N2”經常表示社會上、道德上的規範或規 律，此時全句帶有較強的義務義。如果這種結構中的“V當”帶上謂詞性賓語，就形成“N1+V 當+VP”結構。此為助動詞“當”的語法化條件。這種形式頻繁出現在春秋末、戰國初期的文獻 里。 三、通過語用推理和吸收等機制“當”字就獲得[義務]義，此時“V當”就轉變為助動詞， “NP+V當+VP”結構也重新分析為“NP+Aux當+VP”。 四、用在[+未然][+可控]的VP前的道義類“當”暗含著施事的[意圖]，通過隱喻性投射就獲 得[預測]因素，從而發展出將來時標記。用在[+未然][-可控]的VP前的道義類“當”無法暗含 施事的[意圖]，通過隱喻性投射就獲得[認識]因素，從而發展出認識情態[蓋然]義。 五、“當”的[義務]、[蓋然]等情態用法大致產生于戰國末期，到了西漢開始普遍使用。將 來時標記用法已在西漢時期产生，但到了東漢以後才開始普遍使用。
