The goal of this study is to consider the direction of general education. to this end, this study analyzes the change of university students' reality perception in Lee Mun-yol, Park Min-kyu, Kim Ae-ran, Jang Gang-myeong's novel depicting university students. first, it examines the historical, social, and economic positions of university students, and defines them as being between the student and the social person. In Lee Mun-yol's The Portrait of the Days of Youth(1981), the university student 'I' is depicted as cynical disillusion gaze at the gap between reality and ideal. This cynical disillusion was how 'I' overcomes the difference between reality of poverty and ideal of ivory tower. Park Min-kyu's Castella(2005) is an interesting depiction of how university students are fantastically solving real problems of the noise of a refrigerator. here, we can see the use of college students' knowledge changed in a practical attitude. in Kim Ae-ran's Flight cloud(2012), we can discover the reality recognition of university students who are fully embodied in material logic. in Jang Gang-myung's The Living(2019), university students are depicted as being incomprehensible. The analysis so far has been an effort to understand the position and values of being a university student. through this, we need to consider the direction of general education.

This study examines the state and causes of hate speech in C University's Everytime(에브리타임) “Hot Posts” and comments. In C University's Eta(에타), hate speech stemmed mainly from anti-feminist and educationist stances, and more than 90% was directed against feminists, arguing against affirmative action practices on the grounds of “reverse racisim”. These examples of hate speech are symptomatic of a distorted sense of discrimination that holds “fairness” as a golden rule, and this discrimnatory stance is expressed through educationist hate speech as well, following the bulk of misogynistic hate speech. It can be argued that the “male minority” identity of men in their twnties is at the root of these symptoms, and that college education must also play a part in eradicating this phenomenon.

This study analyzes the self-image of university students in the setting of a general education class, Creative Thinking and Communication. About 430 people participated in the three semesters, divided in 10 classes from the fall semester of 2018 to the fall of 2019. Every class there was a debate where students read the text, raised questions and discussed the answers together. Students were encouraged to express themselves within groups in three ways. The project for the spring semester of 2018 was to express oneself with images. Concepts of passivity and uniformity were repeatedly manifested in the 16 images produced in 2 classes. There was not a single image suggesting the future or the enjoyment of life. In the spring of 2019, students selected keywords for “age 20s in the eyes of university students” and “what university students need”. ‘Freedom and responsibility’, ‘youth’, ‘alcohol’, and ‘challenge’ were highly ranked keywords in the former, and ‘money’, ‘courage’ and ‘passion’ were ranked at the top in the latter category. In the following fall semester, the surrealist game ‘The Exquisite Corpse’ was used. Looking inside the sentences produced according to the rules of the game, feelings of anxiety, fatigue, and crisis were found. By looking at the self-image of university students, the professor hopes to be able to understand the students more closely and cooperate and learn as partners in education and learning.
