ABSTRACT

Yi Sang-su was a prolific and professional translator along with Kim Eok and Hong Nan-pa in the first half of 1920s. Three translators as a literary youth had translated world literature with a new cultural sensibility into Korean. Inter alios Yi Sang-su had translated several novels and plays. Before long he wrote a novel and published it by his own publishing company, then gave up both writing and translation in the same way as Kim Eok or Hong Nan-pa. The research on his hidden past and literary works enables to revaluate translators and translations in the first half of 1920s historically.
