AB - This study aims to investigate problems at translation writing in reference to constructions modifying a noun and to seek for solution to write idiomatic korean expressions. The problems found at constructions modifying a noun in English-Korea translated texts are summarized as follows: expressions relied on the word order of English, ambiguity by scope of modifier, repetition of the genitive postposition ‘-ui’, the structural complexity by multiple complex sentences. These are problems caused by syntactic differences between korean and English in general, but they aren't limited to translation writing. The expression methods suggested at this study may assist to increase acceptability and readability in non-translation writing as well as translation writing.
