ABSTRACT

Jing Zheng. (2019). A Study on the Rewriting of Korean Literary Translation in the 1980s : Focusing on Rewriting under the Influence of Ideology. Literary translation is a rewriting activity under the influence of social ideology. In order to probe into the interaction between ideology and translation activity, this paper, targeting at Korean literary works translated in the 1980s, employs comparative analysis methods of ST and TT to present actual cases where Korean literary works were rewritten in the translation process due to the influence of ideology. The specific ideological factors leading to rewriting are also analyzed in this paper. The analysis results show that, under the influence of the socialist cultural and ethical thoughts and Deng Xiaoping's literary thoughts which dominated China at that time, the translators, while translating Korean literary works, rewrote, to varying degrees, the negative description of the communist camp, and the descriptions of the Korean regime, sex and love, anti-communist party activities and violations of moral and ethical rules etc. (Beijing, China)
