ABSTRACT

This study attempted to find out whether online self-directed learning is effective in enhancing self-concept of university students, by developing online self-directed learning class. Thus, before and after the online self-directed learning class, this study measured self-concept(Lee Kyunghwa, Ko JinYoung, 2015) to prove the effect of online self-directed learning on the improvement of university student's self-concept. For this purpose, the experiment(online self-directed learning class) was conducted by a single group experimental design in the second semester of 2015, and the participants were 442 university students. Results of pre-post test were processed statistically by paired-sample t-test and one-way ANOVA. As a result of this study, the effect of the experience was identified. In other words, online self-directed learning class was effective to improve the self-concept of university students according to the their grace and major. But the differences in grade and major were not significant. Also, this study could provide some implications on the way of developing and the content of online self-directed learning program for all university students regardless of grade and major to improve self-concept and developing online self-directed learning curriculum which can improve the affective competencies of the university students in future.
