ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of a former middle school art teacher who had been teaching for about 20 years. After transferred from middle school teacher to Korea Arts and Culture Education Service and she played a key role in the overall field of decision making of Korean culture and arts education policy. Qualitative research methodology based on life history research and in-depth interviews was conducted. In addition to the development of professionalism and transition of professions in the personal life history of the research participant. The meanings of life history derived from this study are as follow; First, the research participant devoted herself to the realization of culture and arts education in Korea. Second, the historical flow of Korean art and culture education policy was integrated into the life history of the research participant. Third, the research participant has made continuous existential choices in her life. She became a true self through countless existential choices as the subject of her life.
