ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to find out child care center teacher's recognition of importance and performance level on health management jobs for young children. For this study, 350 questionnaires were distributed to child care center teachers and then 322 were used for the final analysis. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS Statistics 18.0 for frequency analysis, M, and SD, t-test. The results were as follows. First, there were significant differences regarding the teachers’ recognition of importance and performance level for observing signs of child abuse, food allergy symptoms, and regular physical measurement tasks. Second, there were significant differences in the teachers’ recognition of importance and performance level in caring for young children with atopic dermatitis problems, fevers, and infectious diseases. Third, there were significant differences in the teachers’ recognition of importance and performance level in document and environment management areas such as managing emergency medications, health examination documents, checking for the presence of childhood vaccinations, and legal guardianship records. Fourth, there were significant differences in the teachers’ recognition of importance and performance level in education for parents and young children. Lastly, there were significant differences in the teachers’ recognition of importance and performance level in teachers’ self-management area such as CPR, First Aid training, infectious diseases, vaccination, and job stress management. Based on these results, the direction and content of teacher education on young children were discussed.
