ABSTRACT

This study attempts to investigate the relationship between parents’facilitative communication perceived by children and children’s normative behavior, and to examine the mediating effect of sensitivity in the relationship between these two variables. The subjects of this study were 229 children aged 5 years old who were enrolled at 12 early childhood educational institutions in G city. For this study, data were collected and analyzed through a questionnaire survey of 24 classroom teachers these children. Results showed that, first, the parents’facilitative communication perceived by children has a significant effect on children’s normative behavior. Second, there is a significant mediating effect on the influence of children’s sensitivity between parent's facilitative communication perceived by children and children’s normative behavior. It is thought that by increasing level of parents’facilitative communication as perceived by children, as well as sensitivity, may serve as a basis to suggest ways to promote the children’s normative behavior.
