ABSTRACT

This empirical study investigates the effects of career anxiety, grit, and future time perspective to promote an understanding of college students’career preparation behavior. For this purpose, the study collected data from 190 college students. It examined the mediating effects of grit and future time perspective on the relationship between career anxiety and career preparation behavior. Data was collected and analyzed with the SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.1 programs. The main findings were as follows: first, grit had statistically significant full mediating effects on the relations between career anxiety and career preparation behavior of college students. Secondly, future time perspective had statistically significant full mediating effects on the relations between career anxiety and career preparation behavior. Finally, grit and future time perspective had statistically significant sequential mediating effects on the relations between career anxiety and career preparation behavior. Based on these findings, the study concluded that it is important to help college students reduce their anxiety about their careers, encourage them to make consistent efforts with enthusiasm and patience about their careers, and assist them in establishing a positive and expanding perspective for health career preparation behavior for their future.
