ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the human composition and activities of the Dongwoohoe’s tour theatre company from July to August 1921, and to examine the social and cultural background of the Dongwoohoe(the Korean Self-supporting Students Association of Studying Abroad in Tokyo)’s performance. In order to accurately clarify this point, we have to pay attention to the relationship between Dongwoohoe’s tour theatre company and Kim Woo-Jin, a key fi gure who played a pivotal role in leading the performance. Accordingly, this paper examines the relationship between Keukyesulhyeophoe(the Dramatic Arts Association) and the Dongwoohoe, the relationship between the Korean Students Association of Studying Abroad in Tokyo and the Korean Self-supporting Students Association of Studying Abroad in Tokyo, and furthermore, the culturalistic renovation theory and the cultural humanism of the Daisho Democracy era and Kim Woo-jin. Th rough this, it is intended to understand the crosssection of the national movement’s characteristics of the tour theatre company made by Korean students of Tokyo in the early 1920s.
