ABSTRACT

In college, general knowledgeis an important part of your major. The goals of liberal arts can be largely summarized as strengthening basic studies, character education, and cultivating self-expression skills. Writing is an essential requirement throughout the entire process of education and learning reaching the highest level. This is because the ability to write is the ability to think. The ability to reflect and express oneself is an essential quality required for active communication with the society to which one belongs. College students develop integrated and critical thinking skills by analyzing various texts and organizing solutions to problems in writing. Writing is a process of finding identity that reflects the writer’s thoughts, starting from the process of selecting each expression. Each and every word a college student chooses is a process of finding his or her identity. Now writing is not the exclusive domain of experts with specialized insight and knowledge, but has become everyone’s interest. Ordinary people, who had previously played the role of passive readers, have emerged as subjects of writing, actively distributing the articles dealing with not only political/social issues but also personal interests and hobbies through cyberspace and reproducing them through print media. The writer becomes a new knowledge producer in the related field. College students must also lead the production and innovation of knowledgeinformation. In this paper, we aim to present the arguments that Sehan University students should pay attention to in their writing practice, examine the correct direction for writing that focuses on communication and knowledge production while exploring identity, and seek practical suggestions necessary for efficient writing education at Sehan University.
