ABSTRACT

The Hakgye refers to an organization formed for the purpose of raising or educating tuition fees. There is a Hakgyean that records the list of people belonging to the organization as literature data on the operation of the Hakgye. This Hakgyean consists of a part that clarified the purpose of the formation of the academic world, such as a preface to the purpose or protocol, the protocol to maintain the academic world, and the list of participants and financial information made up the academic world. Academia was formed by a lot of titles, but there are many data for which the purpose of formation of the academic world cannot be confirmed because there is no information on the author, and there are many data for which solidarity cannot be estimated. In this study, the contents were analyzed centering on the data on the academic draft that can confirm the purpose of compilation. The characteristics of Hakgye are classified in detail according to the purpose of formation and the compilation of the document. Here, scholarships to encourage the work of Confucian scholars and financing for discussion management, organizations formed by writers to honor the virtues of their teachers, organizations formed to promote the study of seowon students or children in the family, and civil service examinations document to pay for civil service examinations studies and examination expenses. Scholars who became the main axis of the formation of the Hakgye and revealed the significance of the Hakgyean suggested the direction of the study to proceed as a Confucian scholar, and suggested that the task would be to lead the younger students and create a declining academic style through Hakgye. It is of little significance that we were able to see one aspect of Korean academic culture, which is the recommendation of academics through the organization, by examining the formation and compilation of academic organizations and the causes of formation, focusing on theHakgyean that has not been studied so far.
