ABSTRACT

This study analyzes lexical errors in the writings of adolescent children of North Korean defectors and proposes strategies to improve their vocabulary use. Writing samples from 18 students at Yeomyung School were examined using Corder’s (1973) error analysis framework. Among substitution, omission, and addition errors, substitution was the most frequent. Based on the findings, the study suggests three teaching strategies: developing vocabulary focused programs, designing materials that teach lexical collocations, and creating writing centered learning environments to enhance Korean language proficiency.
