ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to analyse critically the contents related to 'Hyo' on 「moral」 and 「ethics」 text books used by primary and secondary schools. The positive points of analysis result are as follows : ‘Hyo' is mainly treated in unit of 'healthful, peaceful, and hapy life in home'; it is defined as a moral duty observed in relation between parents and son; it is an essence in all kinds of virtuous action, and extends from family through neighbourhood into society and world; therefore it can be said as an important value and virtue to produce good human life. But there are some negative problems : the contents about 'Hyo' are repeated in all text books. So it may be difficult to do motivation for learning in class; and the definition of 'Hyo' concept is not clear either duty as 'minimal moral' or moral admiration as 'maximal moral'. I suggest to take the latter conception. And I present tasks of the educational authorities to suport 「moral」 and 「ethics」in Curriculums revision. Educational administrator should care the main subject 「Moral」to take charge of 'Hyo Education' too.
