ABSTRACT

Intercultural awareness education is exceedingly needed in the era of multiculturalism where there are frequent social conflicts like alienation and discrimination. The core of Intercultural awareness education is to cultivate multicultural characters such as cooperation, toleration, respect and solicitude. For the purpose, we believe it is necessary to find diverse teaching learning media. The research suggests traditional games from all over the world as one of the methods to build the multicultural characters. Accordingly, this paper explains the significance on personality education with literature materials and an expected effect of multicultural personality education which can be obtained through the traditional games. The traditional games are of great value for several reasons. Firstly, it can help in establishing a national identity by inheriting the traditional value. Also, people can accept cultural diversities by encountering traditional games from other regions. Finally, the traditional games can contribute to holistic human development of children. Therefore, if we utilize the traditional games into the personality education program which cultivates multicultural characters efficiently, we can resolve problems, such as discrimination, prejudice and alienation, occurring in a multicultural society. In this regard, the research exemplifies a teaching learning guidance plan ofmulticultural personality education program which respects diverse cultures such as their own lifestyle, values and customs, and also can be practical in a classroom.
