ABSTRACT

Background: In the flow of the technological paradigm, while emphasizing technical education that requires creativity, character education is relatively neglected, and the crisis of loss of humanity is aggravating. In this situation, it is necessary to understand the importance of character education and find the direction of character education from a Christian perspective. Objective: The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of Christian character education while focusing on the technological paradigm. Methodology/Approach: Four tasks of practical theology were carried out based on Richard Osmer's ‘Consensus model’, which has the strength of presenting alternatives through interdisciplinary research and the dialectical relationship between theory and practice. Based on this, descriptive-empirical task, interpretive task, normative task, and pragmatic task were performed. Results/Conclusion: The direction of Christian character education in the era of technological paradigm is an education that is directed towards ‘Saramdaum’. This means three changes: First, it aims to Saramdaum by establishing the concept of character. Second, it is to establish a Christian self-identity that can realize Saramdaum. Third, it is an understanding of creativity that restores Saramdaum. Implications: The significance of this study is that it restores the importance of character education in the era of the technological paradigm and suggests the direction of character education that realizes saramdaum from a Christian perspective.
