ABSTRACT

The system of Esoteric Buddhism in India that was on the foundation of Esoteric elements ofsecret rituals, Mantra, Dharani, etc was landed in Tibet in 8, 9th century with the beginning of translation of Indian Buddhist canon. The Esoteric Buddhism was flourished in India leaving many texts of Tantras, commentaries, rites and rituals and Sadhanas until the vanish of Indian Buddhism which represents the prosperity of Indian Esoteric Buddhism. On the ground of classification of Tantric texts and the monastery system of Nalanda school the Geluk sects established four main monastery of Ganden, Sera and Drepung which succeeded the tradition of Nalanda school.
