ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of non-resident Jejurian’s regional attachment and regional image on the attitude toward tourism development in Jeju Island. In addition, this study also investigates whether the lapse of time left from Jeju Island plays a role as a moderating variable between the independent(i.e., regional attachment and regional image) and the dependent variable(i.e., attitude toward tourism development). Totally 388 questionnaires were employed to test research hypotheses. The result indicates that regional image is positively related to attitude toward tourism development. In addition, lapse of time left from Jeju Island moderates the relationship between regional image and attitude toward tourism development. Based on these findings, this study suggests some policies in order to draw non-resident Jejurian’s positive attitude toward tourism development in Jeju Island.
