ABSTRACT

What does the '習[xi]' of Yan-yuan demand from us in this era now? What is the true meaning of ‘習[xi]’ emphasized by Yan-yuan? This paper has conducted a search for these questions. To that end, we first looked at the '習' that Yan-yuan mentioned and its background. Yan-yuan then criticized the old-fashioned idea, recognizing the '習[xi]' mentioned in zhung zi, among his old-fashioned ideas. In the previous review of '習[xi]' and '習[xi]' as claimed by Yan-yuan. Wise man interpreted '習' in the essential sense of the meaning of the wordzhung zi, and explored the modern application. Ultimately, what Yan-yuan is trying to emphasize through this study is not the ‘習[xi]’ itself. It is to present the right direction and practice it in accordance with the situation. So we found out which of the following are the correct teachings of wise man.
