ABSTRACT

Immediately after the establishment of the Korean Liberation Army on September 17, 1940, the Provisional Government announced the relocation of the General Headquarters of the Liberation Army to Xi'an. An important reason for the relocation to Xi'an was the rise in military importance of Xi'an during the Sino-Japanese War. As Japan established a mobile air defense government in North China to exert influence while pursuing a policy of separating North China from China, the line of confrontation with the Japanese military was relocated to the Western provinces such as Xi'an. At this time, the Sino-Japanese War broke out, and the provisional government pushed for the relocation to Xi'an, which was in a strategically and militarily important position after the creation of the regular army. The Korean Liberation Army thought that it would be of great help in its power if it dispatched the KoreanLiberation Army to Korean residents concentrated in Hwabuk, a Japanese-occupied area facing Xi'an. Since the korea Liberation Army was created with only a few officers, it was planned to invite Koreans living in North China to create a unit. Due to these internal and external factors, it can be said that the general command of the korea Liberation Army was transferred to Xi'an immediately after the establishment of the korea Liberation Army.
