The Relationships among the Inter-Parental, Parent-Adolescent Consistency of Communication Style and Adolescents' Deviant Behaviors

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the relationships among the inter-parental, parent-adolescent consistency of communication style and adolescents' deviant behaviors. The study subjects were 217 adolescents and their 434 parents. The important study results are as follows.; First, there was a significant difference in adolescents' deviant behaviors according to the level of parent-adolescent communication. Second, the difference of the adolescents' deviant behaviors varied according to the inter-parental consistency of communication style.: the adolescents' deviant behaviors test scores were lowest when both their father and mother had open communication with their children. Third, there was a significant difference in adolescents' deviant behaviors according to the perceived parent-adolescent consistency of communication style.
