ABSTRACT
This study is to review the cultural value of the book festival. We redefine the concept of the book festival by analyzing the history, policies and cases of it. Also implications are derived from the cases: cultural reproduction based on the historical space; strengthening the solidarity of the community through engagement with the book festival; diffusion of reading culture by internalizing reading habits based on family and community. These implications connote the cultural value that book festival has essentially. The substantive value is that book festival strengthens the country’s competitiveness through diffusion and vitalizations of reading culture. The conceptual value is that book festival supports achieving increasing sense of community and social integration by generalizing liberally sharing way of thinking.
