AB - Purpose: This study aims to address the care gap in medically underserved island regions by proposing a dementia-friendly healing environment for Public S Long-term Care Hospital, positioned as a hub for community-integrated care. Methods: Architectural planning principles were derived through a review of domestic and international policies and field surveys of six exemplary dementia care facilities. These principles were applied to the expansion and remodeling plan of the target hospital. Results: The study establishes a healing environment by introducing a small-scale unit care system to preserve patient dignity, incorporating healing gardens and wandering paths to support cognitive function, and organizing community-linked spaces to enhance social connectivity. Implications: This research redefines long-term care hospitals as community care hubs rather than mere containment facilities and provides practical architectural guidelines for developing public medical infrastructure in vulnerable regions.
