AB - The hometown of Yu Geum-pil(庾黔弼) was Musong(茂松) area, but his ancestor moved to Paegangjin(浿江鎭) in the Late Silla Dynasty. In that place he became a soldier. Not long after he did duty service in Gung-ye(弓裔)’s Army. He was promoted in rapid in virtue of the clan of Park(朴) in Pyeongsan(平山) area helped him.
After Wang Geon(王建) became the King Taejo(太祖) of Goryeo(高麗) Dynasty, Yu Geum-pil had a lively time of it. The year 918 he was stationed in Jinju(鎭州) area, and defeated a rebellion in Cheongju(淸州) area. The year 920 he subdued enemy in north border. The year 927 he secured Yeonsanjin(燕山鎭), and Imjonseong(任存城) area. The year 929 he got a great victory against the Gyeon-hweon(甄萱)’s Forces, and secured the routes of attack into the Andong(安東) area.
But the year 931 he was exiled to a remote island, because of false incrimination. not long after his guiltlessness became clear, he came back to an official position. The year 934 he led a force of horsemen into the Hongseong(洪城) Battle, he did a great victory. The year 936 as a commander, General Yu he participated in the battle against the Later Baekje Kingdom. He played an active part in that battle.
King Taejo awarded a prize to him for his role. King Taejo married with You Geum-pil’s daughter. He became King Taejo’s father-in-law. After all he became a vassal of merit. Therefore his descendant had the opportunity to take an official without examination.
