ABSTRACT

So far, there has been not enough research on the matter of military provisions Korean Forces during the Vietnam War. This study focuses on the problem of combat food for Korean Forces during the Vietnam War and the Korean type combat ration(K-MRE) that emerged to resolve it. The Korean Forces in Vietnam were basically supplied with food from South Vietnam and the US Military Assistance Command in Vietnam. However, as the issue of Korean food was raised continually, the Korean government established Korea General Foods Co. to resolve the problem of Korean type combat ration, called ‘K-Ration’ and to achieve results in acquiring foreign currency during the Vietnamese War. The Vietnam War was the first overseas dispatch of Korean Forces, and it was an important turning point in the modernization of the Korean military. In this regard, the case studies during the Vietnam War are still useful.
