ABSTRACT

n this article, we studied Doyang Dunjeon in the Goheung area but focused on the period of the Imjin War, and looked at both before and after that. At the same time, prior to Dunjeon, the Doyang Ranch was also mentioned. Above all, following the records of Yi Sun-shin, he attempted to access the place of Sosin in Dundeon in Doyang and Dundeon in Doyang. Yi Woon-ryong's 􋺷GyeBonDeungNok􋺸 found the location of the Doyang Dunjeon recorded in Yi Sun-shin's Janggye and Diary. In addition to Yi Sun-ryong's records, the truth of the Doyang Dunjeon was revealed based on Lee Woon-ryong's records that he provided for military training at a part of Heungyang's ranch during the Japanese invasion in 1592. In addition, a study on the operation of the Dunjeon in the Heungyang area revealed some of the activities of the Heungyang naval forces that contributed to the development of military training. It can be seen that during the Imjin War, the physical foundation of the naval forces under Yi Sun-shin was in the Dunjeon at the Doyang Ranch in Goheung area. Due to the rare research results that have examined Doyang Dunjeon during the Imjin War, I would like to contribute to clarifying the physical role of Heungyang County in the Joseon Dynasty through research focusing on Doyang Dunjeon. It is expected that this study can be used as basic data for future research on the history of Goheung and projects related to Imjin War.
