ABSTRACT

The study aims to explore how digital transformation, smart factory, and government support affect business performance through innovation performance, while also examining the moderating role of market competition between innovation and business performance. Additionally, it investigates potential differences in causal relationships between SMEs and large enterprises. Utilizing original data from the “Korean Innovation Survey (KIS) 2022,” the analysis employed structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings indicate that digital transformation, smart factory, and government support positively influence innovation performance, which mediates the relationship with business performance. Contrary to expectations, market competition showed a negative moderating effect. The research also revealed significant statistical differences between SMEs and large enterprises, aiming to provide insights for managers and policymakers in the manufacturing sector.
