ABSTRACT

This study investigated the influence of MBTI personality types (E/I, S/N, T/F, P/J) on preferences in residential spaces and interior design through a survey conducted with 153 participants from November 10 to November 25 2024. Data were collected using a 5-point Likert scale, and statistical analyses were performed to identify general response trends for each survey item. Findings indicated that Extraverts (E) preferred shared and multifunctional spaces, whereas Introverts (I) favored independent and private spaces. Sensing types (S) emphasized practical and organized spaces, while Intuitive types (N) preferred creative and experience-oriented environments. Thinking types (T) prioritized efficiency and functionality, whereas Feeling types (F) valued emotional comfort and coziness. Judging types (J) preferred structured and orderly designs, while Perceiving types (P) favored flexible and adaptable layouts. These results highlight the importance of considering personality types in personalized spatial design, suggesting practical applications as design criteria in residential and interior fields.
