AB - This study explores the theory of Origin (Won-Ryu theory, 源流論)as presented in Jeok-Chen-Su(滴天髓), highlights its influences on future generations through comparative analysis between the original text and commentaries, and reviews potential modern interpretations. Yu Baek-On construes the origin theory as a seek for benevolent spirit while limiting wealth and authority. Lim Cheol-Cho classifies the origin theory as three cases based on its integrity. Seo Nak-Oh asserts the origin should mutually support the Useful god, which is endpoint of the head of origin. He further proposes the head of the origin should be Year Earthly Branch. These early studies of origin contributed to the fundamental development of post origin theory; the four classes of mutual support and four classes of mutual control. The essential point of Destiny theory lies on harmony and origin. The analytical method suggests to seek for Useful god in overflowing, lacking, confrontation relationship, clash, and mutual control. Furthermore, we confirmed the modern origin theory is based on four mutual support origin and four mutual control origin. Further research is needed as such the origin is the critical factor in harmony and four pillars destiny analysis.
