ABSTRACT

This study aims to explore the family care experiences of young carers, the challenges they encounter, and the support they require. Based on these findings, this study seeks to identify necessary support measures and propose effective interventions for assisting young carers. A qualitative case study approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the family care experiences of young carers and their underlying meanings. In-depth interviews were conducted with seven young carers between June 13 and July 12, 2024. Data were analyzed using within-case and cross-case analysis. The analysis identified six major categories and twelve subcategories. The six major categories were : “Routine Responsibilities and Duties in Caregiving,” “Profound Sadness and Repressed Emotions,” “Vulnerable Environmental Systems,” “Concerns for the Child’s Present and Future,” “Inner Strength of the Child,” and “Trust and Reliance on Family and External Resources.” Based on the findings of this study, intervention strategies were proposed to ensure the rights of young carers and to support them in overcoming their challenges.
