ABSTRACT

This study is identify key variables that promote successful aging of the elderly in Korean society, which has entered a super-aged society, and to empirically reveal its structural path. The results of the study showed that, first, the self-efficacy of the elderly had a significant positive effect on successful aging. Second, self-efficacy also had a positive effect on the level of participation in leisure activities, showing that self-belief functions as a factor that promotes voluntary and active participation in leisure. Third, leisure activities had a direct effect on successful aging, which means that regular and meaningful leisure experiences contribute to healthy aging through maintaining vitality and social relationships in old age. In conclusion, an integrated intervention strategy that combines a self-efficacy promotion program and a customized and accessible leisure support policy is essential to promote successful aging of the elderly. When psychological interventions such as goal setting and achievement experiences for improving self-efficacy, social modeling, and strengthening positive feedback create practical links that can lead to participation in leisure activities, a healthy and meaningful old age in an aging society can be realized. This study is significant in that it proposes a structural pathway for successful aging through theoretical integration and empirical analysis. However, its cross-sectional design limits the ability to infer causal relationships between variables, and it does not account for changes or long-term effects over time. Therefore, future research should employ longitudinal designs to examine temporal changes among the variables.
