ABSTRACT

This study, grounded in the philosophy of ‘Gamdoism’, seeks to elucidate the structure of ‘Gamdo Design’ a responsive art system in which sensory experience is transformed into a philosophical order through the Eastern formative languages of Breath (息), Qi (氣), Rhythm (律), and Void (間). The study first analyzes the paintings〈The Moon Embracing the Orchid〉and〈Bamboo II〉to empirically demonstrate the transitional process of sensation–rhythm–philosophy–structure proposed by the artist. Each stage functions as a cyclical responsive system in which sensation develops into perception, perception evolves into structure, and structure expands into philosophy. It then examines the potential for artistic expansion through spatial prototyping and responsive algorithm experiments. As a result, ‘Gamdo Design’ is established as a creative system that structures the inner flow of sensation into philosophical order. Originating from painting, the philosophy of ‘Gamdoism’ expands through ‘Gamdo Design’ into various artistic fields such as spatial design, UX·UI, media art, and architecture presenting an integrated framework for artistic convergence. Ultimately, this research provides an academic foundation for reinterpreting the philosophical values of Eastern aesthetics within contemporary art discourse and contributes to building the theoretical groundwork for a new artistic movement, ‘Gamdoism’
