ABSTRACT

This study conducted a survey of 210 individuals with kidney disabilities residing in Gyeonggi Province to explore their welfare service needs. Based on the results, the study aimed to provide foundational data for developing policies and programs tailored to the needs of kidney-disabled individuals in the region. The analysis yielded the following findings. First, the financial burden of medical expenses and the resulting economic difficulties were found to be significant among individuals with kidney disabilities. Second, 8 out of 10 respondents were not receiving welfare services such as rehabilitation or personal assistance services. Third, the most desired services among kidney-disabled individuals were, in order, medical expense support, household assistance, and mobility support. Based on these findings, the study recommends the introduction of medical expense support and customized case management services to better address the needs of kidney-disabled individuals in Gyeonggi Province.
