ABSTRACT

This study analyzed the structural relationship between self-leadership, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills of caring teachers and presented the basis for professional competency and desirable child interaction. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that self-leadership, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills are closely connected to each other and act as key factors to improve the psychological stability, job competency, and quality of interaction of caring teachers. First, the self-leadership of caring teachers directly affects interpersonal skills and plays a role in promoting positive interactions through autonomous goal setting and self-regulating behavior. Second, self-esteem positively affects both self-leadership and interpersonal skills and tends to be strengthened along with the improvement of career, age, and education, supporting the importance of the professional development process. Third, self-esteem is a psychological factor that mediates the relationship between self-leadership and interpersonal skills, and the higher the self-esteem, the higher the likelihood that self-leadership will lead to actual interpersonal skills improvement. As such, this study is significant in that it provided basic data for strengthening the professionalism of caring teachers and positive child interaction.
